In addition, ALS believes in strict quality control systems in its maintenance department.
The minimum standards of the quality control system are:

  1. to monitor, report to management, the level of compliance with the organisation’s Manual of Procedures and Airworthiness requirements.
  2. To correct any non-compliance identified and to implement actions to prevent the recurrence of such non-compliance; and
  3. To present to management, for the purpose of review and implementing further corrective or preventive action, quality indicators such as audit reports, accidents, incidents, occurrences, customer complaints and personnel reports.

The Quality Control System in ALS Limited consists of the following;

a) Quality of Audit

Auditing is a function of a checking process and is done on a daily, weekly, monthly and bi-annual basis and scheduled on a basis of the status and importance of the activity.

The purpose of auditing is to ensure the attainment of the requisite product quality, the reduction, elimination and most importantly the prevention of deficiencies affecting quality.

This includes the scrutinization of manuals and procedures and the appraisal of the entire system to enable evaluation and assess for non-conformance and quality improvement.

To promote the reliability and safety within ALS LTD, a series of audit forms have been developed to assist with specific areas. However, audits may be carried out in any area when it is determined that the need arises.

b) Quality Audit of Aircraft

Q.A. Auditors are on a scheduled shift rotation to monitor the standards and quality of maintenance standards.

c) Quality Audit Remedial Action

Upon compilation of Audit Reports, the Report is forwarded to the supervisor of the department in question for his perusal. Audit forms contain sections for supervisor comment(s), follow up findings, and for final signature of the Chief Inspector. In these areas, rectification actions and recommendations is noted.
